Suggested Follow Up: 
People with diagnosed cases of osteoporosis or osteopenia should be regularly tested for bone mineral density. 
For patients eligible for Medicare, routine testing is allowed once every 2 years. Medicare allows a repeat test in 12 months following a significant change in therapy for: 
1. Established low bone mineral density; or 
2. Confirmation of a presumptive diagnosis of low bone mineral density made on the basis of 1 or more fractures occurring after minimal trauma.
